It was a blue bird weekend at Mount Bachelor with plenty of activities for all ages and interests. They are 100% open with fantastic runs for skiers and riders. They have a season total of 240” WOW. Mount Bachelor’s 2012 Winter Carnival was very entertaining and provided a variety of activities for customers to participate in….everything from nordic to tele to alpine skiing and riding, even snowmobile trail riding and racing. Of course not to mention the beer tent situated by a warm fire and by the Nevado demo center.
Nevado brought on board several new and innovative products such as Liquid Image “Point of View” video camera goggles that have a 136 degree field of vision. These great looking goggles enable you to capture of all the action whether you’re skiing, boarding, sledding or snowmobiling. Aerial 7 is also a new product that offers comfortable and great looking headphones by merging fashion and technology into one headset. Another great company that recently joined us is Multisport Journeys where you can select and customize sports garments with colorful and fun artwork online through a user friendly process. Leki, the world’s leading manufacturer of skiing, hiking and trekking poles has joined Nevado to show off their Vario poles that connect to leather gore-tex gloves. Other important companies such as Crashpads protection gear, Nevados boots, and compression merino wool socks from EC3D are new and upcoming.
Mount Bachelor featured Nevado’s first western demo of the season during their winter carnival. We had such a variety of customers who entered the demo area. The Liquid Image goggles drew in customers who were both on and off the slope. Not only are skiers and riders excited about the new goggles but we also had snow mobiler’s express an interest in these goggles for trail riding. One customer did a demo of the goggle during a nordic race at the Mount Bachelor nordic center and raved about being comfortable during the race. People were itching to try telemark and alpine ski bindings on the new RAMP skis. The Crispi boot area was set up for customers to come in and try telemark skiing with either telemark 75 mm or NTN binding with Evo and Shiver boots. Some people arrived not knowing that they were going skiing until they found out that we could outfit them from head to toe. We carry UVEX and BERN helmets so we could fit customers properly. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who come in with helmets that are larger than what they are supposed to be. For safety reasons its important to have your helmet fit your head properly and to have the correct eye protection from UV rays. We referred customers to the Native Eyewear station where they could demo some unique polarized goggles and sunglasses. The new Native Eyewear Odyssey series that came out in 2012 brought about 6 new styles, with new colors and the N3 which is the most innovative and advanced polarized lens on the market. The N3 lenses passed a Z87.1 testing and feature up to 40% IR reduction, with UV protection up to 400nm and state of the art blue light filtering.
Almost every other kid wanted to demo a GoPro camera. People were excited to hear about the new Hero2 and accessories GoPro provides to ensure quality videos and pictures. Customers commented on how GoPro gives away a daily prize of everything they make for the best video of the day. The GoPro Hero2 camera includes a vented helmet and head strap, curved and flat adhesive mounts and a three way pivot arm…”Wear it, Mount it, Love it”.
Yaktrax and SkiTrax was a popular hit with many of the customers who were walking from their cars with or without ski boots. The ski patrol staff stopped by and we showed them the XTR extreme crampons for extra traction while on icy slopes during a rescue in the trees.
Little Hotties are always something people want on a frosty morning for their hands and toes. We were happy to see smiles all day from customers who sampled toe and hand warmers.
