Mount Shasta Ski Park opened in 1985 and has operated 24 seasons by entertaining more than 2 million skiers and snowboarders. The 425 acres has 32 trails and 1,435 of vertical feet. They have 3 triple chairs, 1 rope tow lift and a conveyor lift which suits all styles of skiing and riding.
The sun came out first thing and then snow came charging in just enough to add a nice touch to the morning ski and ride. Nevado demos have brought snow to all of the mountains that we have worked at this winter.
We have to say that the smaller mountains are our busiest days. People are all eager to try new things and give us great feedback for our sponsors. GoPro was the product that everyone knew about. Many people had them on their helmets and were looking to try other mounts for their poles and chest. SD cards were passed out after people took the cameras out so they could view themselves in the comfort of their own homes. We introduced the Liquid Image video and camera goggles as another alternative. Some even took out both the goggle and camera to compare them against each other. Both cameras have different features and accessories for customers to try. Helmets have become more and more popular in the west over the years so it is good to see that safety and warmth are such a factor when people are trying them on and skiing or riding with them. Even the snowboarders are beginning to see their value. Uvex, Bern and some youth Nutcase helmets are what we can let you try before you buy. Some new products we have for spring are colorful neck and face guards for both a fashionable look or just a functional breathable mask to keep you warm around the edges. Another new product we are representing is EC3D out of Canada. The compression socks have made a big difference in the longevity of your outdoor adventure. An older gentleman said: “what a difference I feel in my ski boots and it feels like I can ski all day”. It was a big day for not only for compression socks in regular boots but we also had customers trying the NTN Telemark boot from Alpina Sports called the EVO and Shiver. The combination of a great compression sock and a supportive insole from Yaktrax and Superfeet makes for a great fit for all that tried Telemark skiing for the first time.
It was a Native sunglass and goggle day for sure as the sky changed rather quickly throughout the afternoon. People of all ages and sizes love the fit that the google offers. Select Native goggles come strap extenders for a perfect helmet fit for all ages and perfect vision with or without a helmet. The new 2012 Odyssey series sunglasses have an updated side vent that are designed to keep the inside of your lenses for-free while giving you the protection you need during cold and windy conditions. As spring approaches, here in the west, sunglasses are an essential need especially when it comes to polarization and Native has it all dialed in.
We have one more rescheduled event at Hoodoo in Sister’s Oregon on April 7th. We hope that you can come to our final event. We are having a one and only end of the year demo sale so check out www.nevado.com for our gear listing and link directly to the manufacturer to find a dealer near you.
See you on the slopes!

Mt. Ashland is found to be a “pristine” area nestled in the magnificent Siskiyou Mountains which is a perfect getaway for families and friends. The summit elevation is 7,500 feet with a vertical drop of 1,150’. Some locals say “if you can ski Mt. Ashland you can ski anywhere” as it offers plenty of adventure for all skiers and riders.
Who ever said that green and white don’t mix?…well on Saturday the green came out and so did the snow. IT WAS A FESTIVE DAY ON THE HILL WITH LOTS OF HAPPY FACES. The dummy downhill race was one of the many highlights during the day. We were asked if we wanted to send the Camp Chef smoker down on skis but it was filled with a delicious pork roast for our team lunch so we declined we offer even though we did think that it would withstand the hill unlike some other dummies. The Packasport car top carrier had lots of onlookers and inquiries about it. Some people asked if they could take it down the hill during the race. Fun was had by all!
The morning set up was beautiful with views of Mt. Shasta looming in the distance after 10 inches of fresh powder came in through the night before. The skiers and riders were in line and ready to try the RAMP line up of skis and boards. By 10 a.m. we had a full stream of customers looking and trying all the latest and greatest gear we had.
The RAMP Peace Pipe skis went out first then the Groundhog and Beavers were sought after all day due to the fresh snow. It was like people were in a candy store trying almost everything we had under the tents and then some. Bern and Uvex helmets and goggles, Liquid Image goggles and Go Pro cameras were very popular. The age group to many of the skiers here were older folk than some of the other mountains we had been too and they wanted to try everything from insoles to new EC3D compression socks to the NTN and Telemark boots we have from Crispi. Ashland is a big Telemark skiers mountain with great tree skiing and some side country runs that are tops and listed as some of Oregon’s finest trails. I have to say one of my favorite pieces of gear is the Leki Vario system with adjustable poles, gloves and straps that attach with a loop placed between the thumb and fore-finger. One person said: “I love the fact that I don’t have to mess with the straps ever again”. You got it right here at Nevado to try before you buy.
The ski patrol asked about the XTR Extreme to see if we carried them again because they got some for their staff last year and found the traction very useful this year during the lack of snow times and when the ice remains in the parking lots on cold days. All the staff at Ashland make us want to return year after year. We even talked about a possible summer gig with a big Mtn. bike race festival. We will keep you posted, meanwhile check out all the cool gear we offer.

Mount Hood Ski Bowl was a blast! The weekend was packed full of fundraising teams that competed in the annual Hope on the Slopes run by the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer patients.
Mount Hood Ski Bowl dates back to opening in 1928, making it one of the oldest ski resorts in the country. It has fantastic views of one of Oregon’s highest peaks, Mount Hood(11,239 ft). Take advantage of the many possibilities Mount Hood Ski Bowl has to offer including a full range of night skiing.
Nevado travelled to Crystal Mountain in WA for a Sunday drive…we found out that Crystal received almost 11 feet of snow since March 1st and Nevado was right in the thick of it. We travelled from Ski Bowl to Crystal Mtn only to encounter that almost 500 inches of snow had fallen since their season began. Crystal is considered as “the Northwest jewel” bordering the Northeast corner of Mt. Rainier National Park. You’ll find 2,600 acres of gentle groomers to challenging glades, bowls, steep runs and of course a vast territory of backcountry trekking. Check ‘em out Northwest!

Nevado truly fits customers from head to toe and Bearpaw finishes out the footwear department with providing warm feet for team members and customers. They have a wonderful variety of classic boots, shoes and slippers for all sizes and shapes. Bearpaw only uses the highest quality of natural furs and real genuine sheepskin.
Little Hotties hand and toe warmers are also a blessing in disguise on cold and damp days. Many team members were out skiing the 24 hour run and had cold hands and toes. Luckily Nevado was able to provide not only warmth to hands and toes but also had safety traction devices from Yaktrax for onlookers, ski patrol and mountain employees. Year after year general managers ask us about getting Yaktrax because they want to keep their employees safe in the parking lot and while tending to customers both on and off the slopes. SkiTrax from Yaktrax is also another big hit that protects your ski boots while getting around the lodge, parking lot, and lift area. Sofsole insoles provide a personalized fit so that your feet can me comfortable for everyday wear and tear. Having the correct arch support is also key to when buying something that you want for stability and support. The gel technology helps SofSole insoles mold to your feet. Stop by and stand on the FIT ID pad to see what kind of arch you have.
Customers who returned after an hour demo said that the “razor-cut” sidecut on the RAMP skis gave an incredible edge grip on the slopes. We had a lot more snowboarders trying the RAMP Tumbleweed snowboard because word is out that this board has a zero camber with a rocker tip and tail. This board does everything for in and out of bounds…it floats in the powder, rips through the groomers and fly’s big air in the park.
We had customers asking about the differences between the GOPRO HD and the new GOPRO HD2. The waterproof housing was taken on the slope through a snow gun blast and proved to protect the camera.
We were able to demonstrate how good CAMP CHEF makes food taste, especially in the smoker. We had customers come in from the parking lot smelling the steam and wood chips cooking a pork roast and chicken wings.
The INDO board demonstrations were very popular within the demo site. We had several customers ask about how it helped with balance and stability. We challenged people to try to stay on the boards as long as possible without touching the ground. One customer stayed on the INDO board for over 10 minutes.
The demo team members were in training Friday night and learned about the several sunglass styles and goggles made by NATIVE EYEWEAR. We had a customer who bought some Native goggles a few years ago and she stated that she had some trouble changing out the lens system. One of our team members showed this customer the newer “LocJaw” interchangeable system by demonstrating to her how quickly and efficiently she can change out the lens and she was fully impressed by that.
While skiing with another customer Brenda noticed on the slope that the NTN binding was present on another skier so she talked to them about trying the Crispi EVO boot we had in stock. The customer was impressed by the thermo-moldable liner that we cooked up for him. He said that this boot felt a lot better now that we put the liner through the heating process. He mentioned that he didn’t have that done before and noticed a big difference.
Customers were especially interested in the Liquid Image Summit Series HD Video snow goggles that record your descent with a tiny, integrated video camera centered above the lens of the goggle. This goggle features an integrated, wide-angle (136°) lens that shoots 720p HD video at a rate of 30 frames per sec. and is a 5 megapixel camera. It comes with a lot of accessories that you would normally need to buy. Here’s what they are: a rechargeable lithium ion battery offering 1.5 – 2 hrs. of run time in the HD video mode, a 4GB SD card that can support up to 32GB SD card (32GB SD card not included), a
fixed focus (3.93 ft./1.2m) glass lens offering sharp still images and smooth, clear video; aperture is f/3.2 for high performance in low light, a USB cable, compatible with Windows® XP/Vista/7 or Mac OS 10.4 or above, no software required,a durable polycarbonate goggle lens that resists impact, fog and scratches, and gives you venting between lenses to reduce fogging, a 4-layer face foam for an unusually comfortable fit, an ionized copper lens offering 25% visible light transmission (VLT), suitable for bright days, also
Included is an interchangeable amber lens offering 35% VLT which is suitable for overcast days and last but not least a microfiber storage bag…wow now that’s a lot of accessories.

Next week Nevado will be heading south for a change to Mount Ashland and Mount Shasta. Come ride or ski with us for free, just bring a license or a credit card and we’ll set you up from head to toe!

“Burke Mountain is, both geographically and spiritually, a monadnock-an isolated solitary mountain”. Burke has 100+ acres of glade skiing and riding along with a new high-speed quad at Mid-Burke. They also put in a new wind turbine that supplies 20% of the mountains energy needs…way to go Burke! Every year for the past 4 years Burke Mountain has hosted a youth program day with a middle-school JAG program (Jobs for American Graduates) . We would like to thank Hannah Collins, Marketing Director, for allowing this opportunity of getting at-risk students to the mountain to learn all about the jobs available at ski areas. The kids make a great Demo Team for Nevado as they learned how to team build while setting up and breaking down the demo that day. They all worked great together and did a wonderful job this year.

RAMP sports has some really great eastern skis that were tried out for most of the day. One model is called the Frenzy and Hysteria. If you love to blaze down the slope at high speeds on groomers and on hard snow then this is the ski for you. The other two fantastic all-mountain skis are called the Chickadee and Woodpecker. You can fly on the groomers with these skis and venture out in the trees as well. Or if your looking for a BIG all mountain ski then either the Beaver or Groundhog would suit you just fine in the East. If you want one ski that does it all on any snow surface at any speed these these two skis will do it all. Burke had fresh snow on Thursday and there were still many lines to find on the weekend.

INDO BOARD balance trainers were also a big hit and are great for board sport training. Indo carries decks, rollers, cushions and other fun accessories for training, fitness and therapy. You can also be a part of the Indo Board continuing education workshops right on line. If your serious about cross training then the Indo Board is ideal to keep you tuned up. Improve your leg strength and core building so your mountain performance will improve.

A new product that Nevado is introducing this year are seamless orthopedic compression garments that are adapted for athletes by EC3D. This Montreal-based company offers compression tights, short and long sleeve shirts, socks and other items that are designed to optimize the bio-mechanics of the body, reduce injuries and increase overall performance. Not to mention that they have added merino wool in some of the winter garments and socks. They also have anti-bacterial fibres that are individually treated with a silver-based solution to destroy 99.99% of odor-causing bacteria. When people did try them on they immediately felt the merino wool warmth it offered but generally the overall feeling was “WOW this really feels like it is doing something” One lady mentioned that the shirt felt like her shoulders were being stretched back which gave her better posture. The shirts have a long front and back so it gives extra support along the abdomen and hips. When the tights and shirt are worn together it really give you support and a slimming figure. We have not found anything better than EC3D compression to help give you the better edge for the day.

BERN Helmets were also a popular venue, at Nevado, for kids and adults. Bern has always specialized in action sport head protection, pads and apparel. Their helmets feature an all-season comfort liner system with removable and interchangeable warm and cold weather liners. The stylish Baker is the original Bern visor helmet used by two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott at the 2006 Olympic games. The Brentwood is one of the lightest helmets out there and it features a cold and warm weather liner so you can use the helmet in any season.

Leki Vario adjustable ski poles and gloves are great for outdoor enthusiasts whether your flying down the hill or taking a stroll in the back-country. Escape through the terrain with a flexible and versatile pole. If you don’t want to worry about pole straps anymore then check out this set up by the world’s leading manufacturer of poles–LEKI. The gloves are made of a soft leather and are truly waterproof to give you dry, breathable comfort all day no matter what the temperature might be. Poles can be either used with the gloves that attach to the poles with a loop sewn right into the V in between the thumb and the fore-finger or a strap that remains on your glove with the same loop. You detach the strap or glove with a light push from your thumb to release the lever that holds it all together. It works great and people really love the system.

Nevado heads back west for Hope on the Slopes at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl 24-hour event that raises money to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. HOPE to see you there March 9 and 10 then we go to Crystal Mountain in Washington on Sunday the 11th. Another adventure ahead of us…. The next weekend we travel to Ashland Oregon in the southern part of the state and then to Mt. Shasta in California. We did reschedule another demo at Hoodoo April 7th for their annual Spring Fling. This was added since we did have to cancel Mad River Glen in Vermont last weekend. After that we will have done 20 on snow demos this season both in the East and West–yeehaw! Looking ahead we do have some spring and summer demos cooking up so keep checking in with the Nevado Blog, Facebook and Twitter.

Snow, Snow, Snow by Golly…Hoodoo got pounded Friday night and Saturday with loads of fresh pow WOW powder. Most of the team members were either stranded in Bend or couldn’t make it across the pass from Portland so it was pretty slim pickings with our team this time around. Hoodoo has so many friendly employees and compliments to everyone from the office staff to the bar staff to the rental staff and of course to the ski patrol staff who risk their lives going after others up there on the mountain.

Liquid Image goggles was another big hit on the slope. Once customers are shown the basics of how to run the camera it captures their true point of view. Liquid Image has dialed in on some of the best essentials such as the wedge and outrigger locks. The wedge is placed under the electronic housing which allows you to adjust the angle of the camera. The Apex goggle, coming in June, will have this feature built in. The outrigger locks are used for fitting the goggles onto any helmet. Some helmets come with a brim and the goggle may not fit tight enough but Liquid Image has a solution for that with the outrigger locks that they include in the package.

Yaktrax traction was counted upon by staff members for getting around the icy parking lot after it was plowed. Customers were especially interested in the Skitrax for their alpine ski boots. We educate people on how important it is to keep the toe and heel of their alpine boot protected and free of debris or chipping. Little Hottie warmers were also a popular fit for some families who joined us throughout the day. Hoodoo was visited by 2 bus loads of foreigners who were new to the mountain and looking very cold. We introduced them to Little Hotties hand and toe warmers for extra warmth on their hands and toes.

Native goggles came in handy for people who didn’t have any low light lenses today and for some customers who needed these goggles because of the windy conditions up top. Upon returning them they raved about how clear they could see the slope.

Bearpaw saved the day for two members who decided to stay at Hoodoo Friday night without the proper footwear. She found that in most boots she has to add an insole but Bearpaw does such a good job designing their own wool insoles that there is no need to swap them out.

GoPro video cameras help you record the thrill of your extreme sports. Get amazing video quality from a camera that mounts anywhere and it comes with a variety of accessories to help you record exactly what you want. Using the GoPro mounts is easy and there are other accessories that are available such as the removable housing and chest straps.

The Vario poles from Leki also hit the slope many times today. Customers loved how dry their hands were after an hour on the snowy chair lift and slopes with the leather gloves that attach to the poles. The poles are easy to adjust and range from 110-150 cm (44-60 in.) in length. The idea behind the pole is if the pole gets snagged, the adjustable straps will release from the grips with an upward pull therefore preventing injuries. These poles also come with powder baskets that work well in the soft snow.

Multisport Journey had some visitors check out their custom design fleece’s. We had a raffle winner who worked at the mountain in the nursery. She went back to show all the other employees her green fleece that she had won. Candace and Brenda went in to talk with the Hoodoo retail staff about all the products we carry. MSJ gives all the retail stores a sharp looking custom ski design fleece with the ski area name on it.

We had some telemark customers who were interested in trying the NTN Evo boots from Crispi. Customers raise their eyebrow and are interested in how the bindings and system work. Even though the bindings have been out for a few years, most people still don’t really understand the concept behind Roterfella NTN bindings. Its great to be able to send customers on the slope with this newer style of binding. Crispi boots also get good feedback on the snug heel fit. These Telemark NTN-compatible boots are Dynafit-compatible for high speed and lightweight telemark turns. Crispi dynamic liner offers warmth and stability.

Wrong Gear has recently joined Nevado to top off the accessory mask line. Wrong gear products are made with the highest specifications in Los Angeles. These hand made, custom dyed colors have thick material because of its high thread count and tighter knit

Nevado heads EAST next week for a weekend packed full of fun at Burke Mountain. See you there!

In spite of the snowy road conditions Stevens Pass is a ski destination area where nothing is going to stop skiers and riders who come from both sides of the pass. Stevens Pass had the first lighted quad for night skiing and its the only ski area that has installed two electric vehicle charging stations at the resort. Stevens has 1,125 acres of skiable terrain including 37 major runs and it has 1,800 vertical feet on three sides of two different mountains.

White Pass is a summit you can find at the top of US 12 located just 12 miles southeast of Mt Rainier National Park. They have a 2050 foot vertical drop and the summit elevation is at 6,550 feet. This “kick-back” mountain is for both the hard-core skier/rider and for families who want to come up and enjoy a relaxing day on the slope.

The Nevado demo weekend started off very busy in fact we had a lot of customers ask us if we would be back on Sunday as they walked into the demo. They had heard that we had numerous soft and hard goods to demo through web advertisements and t.v. ads.

The award winning, hand-made, factory direct RAMP skis and boards were very “poplar” not only with customers but with what they are made of. No seriously RAMP manufactures their skis with a poplar wood-core sandwich to ensure a durable construction that gives you high performance through tough runs. Our big mountain powder ski called the Peacepipe is the Freeskier Editor’s pick for 2011-2012. We had a line of people waiting for the ski to return on the hour. This ski is the ultimate tool for going fast on the steeps and in the deep. We also had customers trying out RAMP snowboards as well. We carry the Sagebrush and Tumbleweed. The Tumbleweed is for experts who like a big all mountain snowboard with zero camber and a rocker tip and tail. The Sagebrush is a wide-open fun for every kind of riding snowboard for advanced all mountain riding with zero camber and a rocker tip and tail. If your in Park City then take a ride over to the RAMP headquarters and they will give you a complimentary demo for the day. You can also check out their demo schedule online by going to www.nevado.com and then click on the RAMP icon to get to their website and upcoming schedule.

GoPro camera’s were another big hit both on the hill and in the demo. Several customers came in to check out the new HD Hero 2 camera. It got its name because it is two times more powerful and sharper than the HD Hero. Let’s not under estimate the power of the HD Hero either because that camera can give you what you need if your not looking for a professional one. The HD2 can take 10 photos in one second, the inputs have a mini-HDMI port and a 3.5 mm External Stereo Mic port to enhance sound and quality.

Another popular video camera that we carry at the demo and that is a lot different from the GoPro’s are the Liquid Image goggles that come with a built camera whether it be HD 1080p or the HD 720p. The 720 gives you 60 frames per second for additional high action videos vs the 1080 that gives you 30 frames per second with audio but offers better HD photos and clarity. Both snow goggles contain 136 degree wide angle lens that are “hands-free”. The Summit Series HD 1080 can hold a micro SD/SDHC card up to 32 GB so this camera is capable of recording thousands of photos or hours of HD videos.

As promised each ski area gets a case of Yaktrax to outfit their ski patrol, lift operators, parking staff or whomever they employ and want to keep safe on the mountain. Yaktrax stretch over everything from casual walking shoes to winter boots. Yaktrax has also introduced SkiTrax to protect your ski boots off course while enhancing traction on snow. SkiTrax protects your ski boot sole, is resilient yet sturdy, has a rounded tread design and easily fits on all Alpine Ski boots. The Sof Sole Fit series performance insoles offer premium support. Not sure what kind of arch you have? No problem the Sof Sole Fit System is a tool that we use with consumers to easily identify their foot and arch type, resulting in an informed purchase of an insole which is what makes this insole so special.
Speaking of feet and hands for that matter, the Little Hotties toe and hand warmers are always popular at our demo because people are often cold in those two areas. One of our team members was working without any gloves on and was asked by a customer how she did that and the secret is that she had hand warmers already placed in the mittens to heat up her hands when they did get cold. These hand and toe warmers are known as the leading provider for killing the chill. These Little Hotties warmers are used by athletes, sportsmen, skiers, riders and anyone wanting to stay warm during outdoor activities. They now offer the “tailgater” package which includes 2 body warmers, 2 pairs of toe warmers, and 2 pairs of hand warmers which is perfect for a day out on the mountain.

Multisport Journeys, LLC had a lot of onlookers at their garments. By going online to their website you can simply select and customize sports garments that have fun artwork. MSJ was formed in 2009 as an outdoor apparel company that truly sells custom active activewear and not just t-shirts. Link onto www.nevado.com and go to our gear page where you will find Multisport Journeys logo. Click on that logo and you will be directed to their website for more information.

The Superfeet rep. Trevor showed up to deliver some Redhot and Hotpink insoles that are specifically engineered to fit the shape of men’s and women’s feet while being in winter footwear. Both insoles provide support, shock absorption, power transmission and edge control to tear up the slopes. The “rebound” foam offers maximum forefoot flex, while their patented stabilizer cap gives the rear foot stability and alignment. The “Outlast Adaptive Comfort” top cover, “Thermo-foil” and “AirWeave” technology efficiently regulates temperature by offering heat management when wearing them all-day. These insoles increase fit, comfort and performance for skiers, riders and winter sport footwear.

We had several employees and customers who were especially interested in Native goggles and sunglasses. When customers come in to look at all the accessories we carry sometimes they already have the product and want to try the newer styles. We tell people that Native goggles have a newer
style “Glide-Lok” interchangeable lens technology that takes the grunt work out of swapping lenses making it easier for you to adapt your vision on the go. The triple layer compression-molded face foam contours perfectly to fit your face while the outer layer of fleece wicks away moisture to keep you warm and dry.

We also had customers who were interested in the Leki Vario adjustable ski poles that come with a trigger release glove. The straps make the poles an extension of your arm so your hand is firmly supported by the anatomic shape. The 16 mm aluminum upper shafts and 14 mm carbon lower shafts combine for a light and smooth swing weight that allows for quick transitions.

Come check out our next demo at Hoodoo mountain on Saturday February 25th.

It was a blue bird weekend at Mount Bachelor with plenty of activities for all ages and interests. They are 100% open with fantastic runs for skiers and riders. They have a season total of 240” WOW. Mount Bachelor’s 2012 Winter Carnival was very entertaining and provided a variety of activities for customers to participate in….everything from nordic to tele to alpine skiing and riding, even snowmobile trail riding and racing. Of course not to mention the beer tent situated by a warm fire and by the Nevado demo center.

Nevado brought on board several new and innovative products such as Liquid Image “Point of View” video camera goggles that have a 136 degree field of vision. These great looking goggles enable you to capture of all the action whether you’re skiing, boarding, sledding or snowmobiling. Aerial 7 is also a new product that offers comfortable and great looking headphones by merging fashion and technology into one headset. Another great company that recently joined us is Multisport Journeys where you can select and customize sports garments with colorful and fun artwork online through a user friendly process. Leki, the world’s leading manufacturer of skiing, hiking and trekking poles has joined Nevado to show off their Vario poles that connect to leather gore-tex gloves. Other important companies such as Crashpads protection gear, Nevados boots, and compression merino wool socks from EC3D are new and upcoming.

Mount Bachelor featured Nevado’s first western demo of the season during their winter carnival. We had such a variety of customers who entered the demo area. The Liquid Image goggles drew in customers who were both on and off the slope. Not only are skiers and riders excited about the new goggles but we also had snow mobiler’s express an interest in these goggles for trail riding. One customer did a demo of the goggle during a nordic race at the Mount Bachelor nordic center and raved about being comfortable during the race. People were itching to try telemark and alpine ski bindings on the new RAMP skis. The Crispi boot area was set up for customers to come in and try telemark skiing with either telemark 75 mm or NTN binding with Evo and Shiver boots. Some people arrived not knowing that they were going skiing until they found out that we could outfit them from head to toe. We carry UVEX and BERN helmets so we could fit customers properly. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who come in with helmets that are larger than what they are supposed to be. For safety reasons its important to have your helmet fit your head properly and to have the correct eye protection from UV rays. We referred customers to the Native Eyewear station where they could demo some unique polarized goggles and sunglasses. The new Native Eyewear Odyssey series that came out in 2012 brought about 6 new styles, with new colors and the N3 which is the most innovative and advanced polarized lens on the market. The N3 lenses passed a Z87.1 testing and feature up to 40% IR reduction, with UV protection up to 400nm and state of the art blue light filtering.
Almost every other kid wanted to demo a GoPro camera. People were excited to hear about the new Hero2 and accessories GoPro provides to ensure quality videos and pictures. Customers commented on how GoPro gives away a daily prize of everything they make for the best video of the day. The GoPro Hero2 camera includes a vented helmet and head strap, curved and flat adhesive mounts and a three way pivot arm…”Wear it, Mount it, Love it”.
Yaktrax and SkiTrax was a popular hit with many of the customers who were walking from their cars with or without ski boots. The ski patrol staff stopped by and we showed them the XTR extreme crampons for extra traction while on icy slopes during a rescue in the trees.
Little Hotties are always something people want on a frosty morning for their hands and toes. We were happy to see smiles all day from customers who sampled toe and hand warmers.
Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Beavers, Groundhogs…yes we demo RAMP skis not animals to all you animal lovers…RAMP stands for Riders, Artists, Musicians Project. To people who ski them means love at first run. Come to a Nevado demo and you will be back for more, every weekend, this winter, in the east or west we are there for you…FREE of sales pressure for you to try before you buy.

Nevado was rockin’ at Crotched on Sunday. Crotched Mountain is new to Nevado and we were very happy with the staff and services it provided. Crotched Mountain began their Midnight Madness back on December 30th and has the most open hours of any ski area in the eastern US. They light their slopes 100%, spark a slopeside bonfire and their Midnight Madness Concert Series kicks in…what a great way to spend an evening of family entertainment!
We had various employees looking at the GoPro cameras and noticed several skiers and riders with GoPro’s already. What’s great about the demos is that we can show GoPro owners the latest upgrade HD Hero 2 and accessories such as the chest mount harness and rechargeable li-lon battery. Crotched Mountain also had a rail jam going on so several parents were coming in to try Yaktrax and XTR Extremes. Yaktrax has taken ice traction to the hill with a patent-pending spike design called the XTR Extreme. This traction device has a high strength chain that resists rust. The toe and heal plate are designed to prevent snow and ice build up and are flexible and sturdy. Some of the other parents didn’t realize how cold it was even though the sun was out so we offered Little Hotties toe and hand warmers.
Uvex helmets had a very popular vote amongst the customers because they liked the vented system. We carry the Sioux which is a brand new freeride helmet that is lightweight, extremely comfortable and stylish. Most of the UVEX helmets we carry have a convenient fit adjustment system so the helmets are a sure fit for most head sizes. We also carry UVEX goggles as a compliment to the helmets. Some of the goggles are designed specifically for women who want a thinner, subtle style or you can try on bright mirrored lenses that absorb harmful rays.
One of the guests identified with pistil hats which is a modern knit accessory. Pistil hats are known for creating a thoughtful design on their hats and accessories that feature flattering silhouettes and a superior fit. To go along with the Pistil hats we had some participants trying on the different collections of Bearpaw. Tom Romeo founded Bearpaw in 2001 with the intention of using nature’s sheepskin fabric which naturally regulates body temperature so your feet stay drier in the heat and warmer in the cold. We added some Superfeet premium insoles in one of the Bearpaws for someone who needed the extra support due to an ankle problem. Superfeet customers experience improved shock absorption, reduced pain and feel a more efficient stride as they walk.
RAMP is another popular demo for us. Employees were coming out of the woodwork to check on the poplar wood core skis and snowboards. RAMP invites customers to interact with them personally and purchase directly through them. This company also has a buyback program that allows you to send back your old skis or board and receive a $50 credit towards a new pair. Nevado has put on two types of bindings for men and women from 22 Designs–the performance leader in telemark bindings. We also promote Rottefella NTN bindings and Alpina Crispi Evo and Shiver NTN Boots and Alpine demo bindings by Tyrolia. We have a whole set up of accessories, skis and snowboards so check us out either online or on the slope.

We had a great day at Granite Gorge on Jan 7th. The sun was shining, the lifts were operating and the customers were happy. We met up with one of the owners, Fred, who was taking pictures and he had a big smile on his face. He was pleased to announce that the night skiing has been very popular and that the NEW lodge is continuing to grow. Granite Gorge is located just 5 miles from downtown Keene, NH and its easy to get too. In addition to the alpine conditions they offer a terrain park, tubing facilities, snow-sports school, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Customers were very interested in the awesome chicken smell coming from the Camp Chef area. From camping stoves to meat smokers & dutch ovens, Camp Chef is the way to go for all your cooking needs outdoors. An entire family was interested in trying the NTN bindings and Crispi NTN boots. Brenda was able to give them a little lesson on how to telemark ski as well. This newer style of skiing is becoming more and more popular every year. The progressive NTN system made by Rottefella gives skiers increased lateral stability, edge control and adjustable forward flex. When using the NTN binding and boots, customers experience an energy transfer from their boot to the edge of their ski. At Nevado demos we have a full run of sizes for men, women and older children. We had customers asking about the Native goggles on display. A good pair of goggles makes skiing and snowboarding much more enjoyable especially when the sunlight changes. Nevado carries the Boomer, Kicker, Pali and Riva. The most prominent feature of Native goggles is the impact-resistant polarized lens, which cuts down on the glare from snow, ice and water. The goggles are easy to put on, wear and take off. Plus Native Eyewear sunglasses and goggles have a lifetime warranty. Nevado works closely with Implus footwear and represents 5 of their products: Yaktrax, XTR Extreme, Little Hotties hand and toe warmers, SkiTrax, and Sof Sole. Implus is an innovative leader in the footwear accessory marketplace. Yaktrax gives you traction confidence on the snow or ice and stretches over everything from casual walking shoes to winter boots. Little Hotties hand and toe warmers was started back in 2005 with the idea that customers wanted quick warmth and comfort in the cold conditions. Little Hotties is the official supplier of the US ski and snowboard teams. Nevado team members invite customers into the heated trailer to try the new Sof Sole Fit system resulting in an informed purchase of their arch type. Some skiers used to wear Yaktrax on their ski boots until we showed them the new Ski Trax. Now you can protect your ski boot with the durable polyelastomer material and improve traction on the snow and ice. Speaking of improving, EFX performance technology is used by athletes all over the world to help improve their athletic performance. This sports wristband is embedded with two holograms that are made of the highest quality, non-toxic, medical grade silicone. We enjoy doing a simple balance test with customers so they can see the immediate improvements in flexibility and balance. We had two of our customers try the EFX sportsband while they were on the Indo board balance trainer. The Indo board is great for sport training and therapy. We had a physical therapist visit us and she showed one of the team members some of the great strengthening exercises that can be done on both the Indo flo exercises. Indo board now offers several products such as: the Indo board original, the Indo pro, mini pro, mini originals, kicktails, rockers, and many other accessories. The new Doodles deck is really cool and what you get is a mini gym in the comfort of your home. RAMP skis and snowboards were tried and looked at all day. After the demo the skis went on top of the truck and into the Packasport: nobody builds a stronger case for Nevado Mountain Adventures. Packasports engineered 6 packasports that all give durable and attractive rooftop storage. These systems are built with a reinforced fiberglass by using laminates of aluminum, Cormat and foam. The exterior gets an 18-mil gel coat for a glossy, high-performance finish. Packasport designed their cases with an aerodynamic system and come with custom colors that can compliment any vehicle. All models come with a limited one-year warranty. Check out the Packasport on top of the Nevado Tundra filled with heavy skis!!! Customers can barely wait to sit on the Ski Chair and bench made for outdoor enthusiasts. Ski Chair manufactures recycled sports furniture from used sports equipment and they are made in the USA. Ski Chair also makes other products such as wine racks, coat racks and tables….”Play in Style, Rest in Style”
